PAUL BROWN, THE AUTHOR
Paul Brown has been the Environment Correspondent of The Guardian for 16 years and has worked for 40 years in newspaper journalism. In the course of his work for The Guardian he has travelled extensively to look at environmental problems and has covered many international conferences on environmental matters including the Earth Summits at Rio and Johannesburg. The subjects he has written about include climate change, population, desertification, biodiversity, pollution, and management of the oceans and energy. He has appeared in and written television documentaries on environmental issues, contributed a number of chapters to books on green politics and journalism and written seven books on the environment.

FOREWORD
His Excellency Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, President of the Republic of Maldives has written the foreword for the UK edition. We are in discussions to create other edition in Canada, India and China, as well as translating the book into at least six languages. Each will have their own specially tailored forewords.
